Essential guidance for your journey
Choose your season
High water (June–Sept) = mokoro heaven. Low water (Oct–Mar) = more game drives and walking safaris. Both are magical.
Three days = six activities
Expect two activities daily: mokoro, walking, driving or boat safaris. Every activity delivers unique sightings.
Early starts pay off
Dawn mokoros and walks are when the Delta is calmest and wildlife most active. 05:30 wake-ups are standard.
Pack minimally
Three days means one soft bag. Lodges wash and press daily. Bring two safari outfits, layers for cold mornings, and a hat.
Hydration matters
The Delta is dry despite the water. Drink constantly, especially on walking safaris. Lodges provide electrolyte drinks.
Binoculars essential
Birding and distant game viewing demand good optics. Bring 8x42 or 10x42 binoculars; lodges sometimes have loaners.
