Twelve Nights in the Heart of Africa — The Ultimate Gorilla & Rainforest Journey
The Congo Immersion is the ultimate — twelve nights across the three Odzala camps, with time to trek gorillas on multiple days, spend four full days at Lango Baï watching the wildlife rhythms unfold from dawn to dusk, kayak every oxbow of the Lekoli and Mambili, and truly inhabit the forest rather than just visit it. This is the safari for those who measure success not in sightings per day but in the depth of the connection — the morning you spend two hours watching a silverback groom his infant, the afternoon you sit in silence as a herd of 30 forest elephants emerge from the trees, the night you fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle and wake to grey parrots calling overhead.
By the end of twelve nights you no longer feel like a visitor. You know the Ba'Aka trackers by name, you recognize the individual elephants that come to the baï each morning, you can identify the calls of 20 different forest birds and you move through the undergrowth without breaking a twig. For photographers this is the holy grail: multiple gorilla encounters in different light, four sunrises over Lango Baï, time to capture the perfect kingfisher-on-branch shot during a river safari. For honeymooners this is the ultimate wilderness escape — twelve nights in luxury forest camps with no one else around, sundowners on private decks, the forest to yourselves.
Designed for those who have done the classic safaris and are ready for the frontier — serious wildlife photographers, conservation-minded travelers, couples celebrating a once-in-a-lifetime milestone and safari veterans who value depth over breadth. This is not a 'tick-the-box' itinerary; it is an immersion in one of the planet's last true wildernesses.

Four nights at Mboko for deep river kayak/boat safaris, savanna drives, night drives
Unhurried days, perfect light, time to wait for the shot, multiple gorilla encounters
Twelve nights beneath the canopy — you become part of the forest
Ngaga 5 nights, Lango 4 nights, Mboko 3 nights — all-inclusive luxury
You board a light aircraft at Brazzaville's Maya-Maya Airport and fly north over the Congo River and into the green — two hours of unbroken rainforest canopy. The plane lands on a grass airstrip deep in Odzala-Kokoua, and you are met by your guide and driven through the forest to Ngaga Camp. After settling into your stilted tent, the afternoon is a gentle orientation walk.

The long dry season from June to September is the finest window for gorilla trekking in Odzala — forest trails are drier, leeches fewer and wildlife concentrates at the baïs. The short dry spell in December–February is also excellent. The wetter months bring lush forests and dramatic storms but muddier trails. Gorilla trekking runs year-round.
Odzala-Kokoua is 13,600 km² of primary Congo Basin rainforest — roadless, remote and visited by only a few hundred travellers a year. You trek where almost no one goes.
Unlike the mountain gorillas of Rwanda and Uganda, these western lowland gorillas are tracked through dense jungle and swamp — sightings are earned, intimate and unforgettable.
Ngaga, Lango and Mboko are among the finest camps in Central Africa — raised forest suites, gourmet dining, house drinks and expert guiding, all included.
Charter flights from Brazzaville, expert field guides and Ba'Aka trackers, and a seamless private itinerary mean you focus only on the forest and its wildlife.
