The Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Where applicable, we also follow the EU/UK GDPR, UK DPA 2018, and relevant U.S. state privacy laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA).

We do not send unsolicited emails. We will only email you when:

Only with vetted suppliers strictly as needed to progress your trip

3.2 Bookings & Travel Fulfilment

Data: Traveller names, contact details, itinerary, preferences, and where required by parks/airlines/immigration: passport or ID details, date of birth, nationality.

Use: Issue confirmations and vouchers; secure permits; coordinate lodges, transfers, guides; handle changes/cancellations; support you throughout travel.

3.3 Reviews, Photos & Community Content

Data: Screen name (full/first name), location/country, age range, experience level, photos/videos you upload; email (private for admin issues); IP (anti-spam).

Use: Publish your review, showcase your media (with consent), combat abuse.

Visibility: Your chosen display info appears publicly; email and IP remain private.

Control: You can edit/delete your review; see Retention for timelines.

3.4 Accounts (Optional)

Data: Email (or social login token) and encrypted password; minimal device/IP signals for fraud prevention.

Use: Sign-in, save favourites, faster quoting, smoother checkout.

3.5 Site Logs & Diagnostics

Data: Standard server logs including IP, URLs visited, timestamps, basic device/browser metadata.

Use: Keep the Site secure, debug errors, measure performance, prevent abuse.

  • Travel suppliers (independent controllers): Select lodges, camps, airlines, park authorities, transfer and activity operators—solely to deliver your itinerary
  • Service providers (processors): Secure hosting, email/SMS, CRM, helpdesk, analytics, fraud detection, surveys—under contract and our instructions
  • Email marketing: Only if you subscribe; we share your email with our mailing platform
  • Social/ads: Only with your explicit consent (often via hashed identifiers)
  • Corporate events: Merger/transfer with continuous protections
  • Legal: To comply with law, enforce terms, protect people and property, prevent fraud/abuse
Cross-border transfers

Safaris are global. When your data leaves South Africa (or the EEA/UK), we use approved safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy, or equivalent). Details available on request.

We apply layered, risk-based safeguards: TLS/SSL encryption, hardened hosting, role-based access, MFA where appropriate, data minimisation, supplier due diligence, staff confidentiality, and ongoing monitoring.

Timelines: We aim to respond within 7 days and resolve within 30 days.

Our services are not directed to children under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child provided data, contact us and we'll delete it, unless the law requires retention.

We retain data only as long as needed, then delete or anonymise it. Typical periods:
